You gotta love 'em. After experiencing some hopeful signs late Friday afternoon only to be disappointed when it turned out to be simply more "practice" labor, Josh and I needed some positive distractions! We met some friends in Fort Worth on Saturday for an afternoon of beer tasting at the Rahr Brewery, lazy lounging at the local coffee shop afterwards, topped off with an evening at the theater. Despite my best attempt to display a large cup of ice water to anyone who cared to notice, I still got some funny looks and humorous comments while walking around at the brewery. It was good for a laugh...
Josh and I spent Sunday afternoon swimming in the pool and making a quick trip to the grocery store. We came home and grilled some hamburgers for dinner (since being married, we've never cooked hamburgers for dinner before this - can you believe it?!!?!), which turned out to be scrumptious! Then we lounged (and digested) afterwards while discussing our new favorite book, The Happiest Baby on the Block, by Harvey Karp, M.D.. All in all, this was a wonderfully relaxing weekend. :-)
Baby girl is still obviously enjoying her space and may not want to come out for a couple more weeks! Our estimated due date is next weekend, but (for the most part), my body is showing no signs of significant change. Last week's doctor's visit revealed a little more dilation and effacement, which is exciting even if not very telling. I've specifically requested that any guesses about baby's weight at birth be kept silent, so I have no idea how she's measuring other than "just fine"! Josh's family has a web site they are all pretty active on, and they've got a couple of polls going right now... Last I checked all guesses for weight were 7.12 lbs or less, and guesses for birth date were June 8 or earlier! Since these are all very wise people, I will be relying on their guesses like Scriptural prophecy. A healthy sized, healthy baby born right on time! Couldn't ask for anything more...
Here we are lounging and digesting our burgers. I'm still amazed at how big and round I am these days. Our bodies are such miraculous vessels!!!

Have a great week, everyone!

Amen sista!! Our bodies ARE miraculous vessels, and pregnancy is a wonderful testament to that. And no, I can not believe you have not grilled hamburgers before this. Crazy stuff. The day is almost here, and we will be praying for a safe, healthy delivery, and a safe, healthy baby! Can't wait to see pictures of the little one growing in that beautiful beach ball of a belly! :)
We are so happy for you guys! xo
