As February wraps up and leads into March (and Spring!), I'm reflecting on all the ways it was an appropriate end to this winter. Drama is always a great way to make time fly, and of course, it helps to throw in a few sweetheart days.
First, we kicked off the month with a trip to the E.R. and labor triage. We hadn't taken a hospital tour yet, but we became quickly acquainted after waking up in the middle of the night with labor contractions. It turns out that somehow, somewhere, I ate some food with some mildly obnoxious bug in it. That mildly obnoxious bug led to some moderately obnoxious belly cramps, which led to some awfully scary contractions. After a few gallons of water drunk (slight exaggeration) and a few pills from the helpful nurse, the contractions were quieted. We were sent home early the next morning with a badge introducing us to the Pre-Labor Contraction Club. Very exclusive. I was most perturbed by the seemingly fragile state of my incubator body. This kind of illness would have seem mild if not for the potential implications it held for my sweet, growing baby. As the nurse said... "The womb is jealous. It fights hard against a threat!". Amazing.

Noa, in the hospital waiting room with Daddy while I was being monitored... She was so very cooperative for being woken in the middle of the night and forced to eat graham crackers under florescent lights.

Moving on, we celebrated Valentine's Day a couple of weeks later. Noa and I baked our first cake! Strawberry cake w/ chocolate icing.
And to continue to pass the winter ho-hum, we took on the challenge of converting Noa's crib to a bed. So far, it has not been too eventful. She was persistent for the first couple of nights, but soon began to sleep by the new rules. I'm still in shock, though...

The Belly is growing big thanks to very little exercise and a whole lot of home cooking. Ahaha, ah, ha. Hoooooh... To my blessed relief, Noa and Josh have been wonderfully supportive and equally fascinated with the miracle taking place in my tummy. This little girl is kicking strong just like her big sister did! A shot of Noa giving me a hand (at 28 wks)...

And a new road-trip discovery - the Castlewood Canyon State Park outside of Castle Rock, CO. A very pretty place that we'll come back to soon. Maybe for a picnic and a hike. Anyone care to join?
So, goodbye, sweet February. You were good to us, and we'll look forward to our next meeting...

Oh bless your heart. Bad enough to have contractions and a bug, but to haul a 2 year old to the ER in the middle of the night is wretched. Glad you're OK!
So.....what is this girl's name?!?
