I felt compelled to get a few thoughts on blog before the snow hits the fan around here. It has been a lovely, sunny Winter so far, and we have basked in the glory. I was determined, this past Fall, to not be brought down by the gray months ahead, like I was last Winter. One of the ways I aim to avoid the seasonal slump was to amass a list of projects to keep me busy. Kid-friendly projects, for the most part. Things like, completing a 12-week workout program... cleaning out a garage... planning a birthday party(?)... and a few others. As of now, I'm not sure how any of those things are "kid-friendly", but we'll make it happen. ;) So far, I think my plan is working brilliantly. None of my goals are completely on target, but I am kept aimful and purposely distracted. Like Ms. Elinore Pruitt Stewart of Letters of a Woman Homesteader noticed about her own adventures while making a home - it's amazing what two hands and a determined will (and trial-and-error, and a few friends and family, and some cute kiddos (or pets), and a needle and thread, etc. ad infinitum) can accomplish. (Just don't ask me to give up my washer and dryer...)
Another project I am considering for this Winter is correspondence. I feel compelled, lately, to type a bit less and write a bit more. Nothing wrong with a strong social network and an uber-effecient MacBook, but I'm feeling somewhat disconnected and afloat, and I think I need to rethink my modus operandi. Perhaps you grandparents will see more letters from us detailing the latest pre-school project or baby food art. I won't promise anything groundbreaking, but certainly a bit more tangible. And if someone out there happens to write us back, be sure that we'll be happy as kids in a candy store. :)
As I type this, snowflakes are falling and our first storm in a month is coming to town. Next time I check in, I plan to update you on our projects! Until then, happy February everyone!
